When cutting border strips, measure the quilt at the top, middle, and bottom. If any of the measurements don’t match, correct the piecing or if that is not possible, average the measurements and cut the strips to the average measurement. Pin the strips to the top and bottom by pinning each end first, then the middle, dividing the strip in two. Then work inwards from one end and the middle, pinning and easing in the fullness as you go. Repeat the same on the other side. Stitch the borders on using a walking foot so that the fullness will be taken up as you sew. Doing this on the top and bottom, and then on each side, will ensure that you end up with a squared quilt top.
